WELCOME TO Myanmar
the LAND OF ADVENTURES
“I signed up for a walking tour around Yangon and we are reaching our first stop: Shwedagon Pagoda.
This is one of the most famous pagodas in the world and an iconic landmark in Yangon, Myanmar.
Did you know that Buddhism is the main religion in Myanmar?
Shwedagon Pagoda is the perfect place to learn about this religion.
Also, the pagoda has four entrances, each leading up to the pagoda’s platform.
There are also eight planetary posts, one for each day of the week (Wednesday is split into two planetary posts).
By the way, how do you say ‘eight’ in Burmese again?
Yanant, please help to refresh my memory!”
“That was cool! My tour guide is also instructing us on the proper Burmese greeting.
I’d better take note of this, especially on how to greet the monks in Shwedagon Pagoda!”
“After walking around for 30 minutes, my legs are starting to protest. It’s time to take a rest...
and take a QUIZ!”
So, back to our earlier question.
How many planetary posts are there in Shwedagon Pagoda?
Answer in Burmese only :)
